		<description>yeah well the way to be a councillor is to suck up to the party, have no real personal opinions of your own that might actually improve peoples lives and to be quite dull so as not to be contraversial. oh and also they earn a ridiculous amount of money for doing about two hours work every two weeks. what the people want is not the same as what the party think the people want. and how many people know their councillor anyway, or would even bother to email them before pure desperation set in, unless they too are career politicians.

most of the time, in my city, the council doesnt even respond to complaints. the only way people can get the council to listen is to call up the local bbc radio, complain en masse about problems in similar areas and get the bbc radio to intervene. the council are too scared of the bad publicity and they have to listen then. 

and... how many people does it take to make sure my bins are collected every week? cant think of much else useful the council actually does for me personally.

i think being a councillor should be an unpaid position with no career prospects.it should be a position banned from beng written on peoples cvs. then lets see how much of a vocation the same people think it is.</description>
